No special preparation is needed for a CBCT scan.  Earrings, necklaces, piercing, hairpins or eyeglasses should be removed prior to the scan.  The x-ray technician may ask you to remove dentures or other appliances, but please bring these items to the appointment, as the technician may be required to incorporate them into the scan.  The scanning procedure will require you to sit or stand in a normal position with your chin resting on a chin support.  You will b required to keep still for the duration of the scan time, approximately 10-20 seconds.


A CBCT scan is painless, takes only a few minutes and requires no particular preparation on your part. 
It is possible that your dentist will ask you to wear a plastic sent called a radiographic guide during the scan.  If you were given a guide please remember to bring it to your appointment as we will not be able to carry out the scan without it.
